About WB Primary TET

The WB Primary Teacher Eligibility Test (Primary TET) is conducted to determine eligibility of candidates for recruitment as Primary Teachers (Classes I–V) in government and government-aided primary schools in West Bengal. Clearing the Primary TET is a mandatory eligibility criterion for appointment to primary school teaching posts — candidates who clear the test obtain a TET certificate which is considered by recruiting authorities.

Paper I is designed for candidates who intend to teach Classes I–V. It assesses language proficiency (Bengali/ Nepali/ Urdu/ other regional languages + English), pedagogy, mathematics and environmental studies at primary level, and the candidate's understanding of child development and classroom methodology.

WB Primary TET scores (certificate) are valid as per state rules; candidates should check the notification for exact validity period and recruitment-specific applicability.
