GPSC (Gujarat Public Service Commission) conducts state civil services recruitment to fill administrative and allied posts in the Government of Gujarat. The GPSC Civil Services examination is competitive and designed to evaluate knowledge, analytical ability, and administrative aptitude through multiple stages — usually a Preliminary objective screening, Mains descriptive papers and an Interview (Personality Test).
Successful candidates are appointed to various services and departments in Gujarat and can pursue an administrative career with progressive responsibilities. The exam rewards sustained reading, answer-writing practice, and state-specific knowledge about Gujarat’s polity, economy and society.
The official notification contains: number of vacancies, category-wise reservation, essential qualifications, syllabus, application dates, fee details, exam centres and conditions of service. Download the PDF from the GPSC official portal and read all instructions carefully.
Keep soft copies of documents in required formats and sizes to avoid last-minute upload issues.

GPSC Civil Services typically follow a multi-stage selection: Preliminary (objective) as a screening exam, Mains (descriptive) that determines merit, and Interview (Personality Test). The exact papers and marks distribution will be in the notification, but the common framework is below.

Cutoffs vary yearly depending on vacancies and paper difficulty. Aim for a comfortable margin above previous year cutoffs.
| Category | Prelims Target (Out of 200) | Mains Competitive Total |
|---|---|---|
| General | 130–155 | 750–900+ |
| OBC | 120–145 | 700–850 |
| SC/ST | 105–130 | 600–800 |
